We realize that there are many organizations out there that are planing or thinking about to implement a Digital Asset Management to make it easier for them to control and manage all assets within the company.
Well, what sounds like a good idea (and it is a good idea) is made into a big issue when you talk to some DAM vendors and sometimes blows up your infrastructure and implementation plan unnecessarily. That is not to say that it does not take time and a thoughtful plan to implement a DAM, I just think that there is no need to overdue something that can be done and used in a fraction of time that most vendors want you to.
Let’s not forget, vendors make most of their money from selling you consultation, be it for analyzing your infrastructure and writing a “infrastructure paper” (which mainly misses the point). At the end, they are hired for the very company that is trying to sell you a license.
Therefore in the true sense of a open source Digital Asset Management, we are starting to offer our professional background of DAM services, which we have gained over many years of using and implementing DAM systems in customer projects, to you!
That is, that if you have a question about a planed DAM installation or any DAM related question you can leave a comment on this page or send us the question with our contact form. We will then either publish the answer (with your permission, of course) on this blog or establish a discussion with you.
(…and no, we will not only “push our system” onto you. You will get an answer that makes sense to you and your organization.)
