Razuna 1.4.6 Release Candidate 3 is now available

The third release candidate for Razuna 1.4.6 is now available. We encourage everyone to download and test this release – please though, not on your production server unless you’re extra adventurous.

We’ve handled over 100 issues since 1.4.5, including many new features like mobile version (to make your self hosted version compatible with the Razuna Google Chrome Extension!), the option to download assets directly in the folder view, refactored the search completely (advanced search, search in your custom fields, etc.), search in folders will also search in subfolders, support for XMP-Plus fields, improvement to image and video conversion and many more useful tweaks.

The Razuna 1.4.6 release notes are available over in our Wiki.

We encourage everyone to test things out, so we can fix things before the final release. If you find problems, there are a few ways to let us know:

Go ahead and download Razuna 1.4.6 Release Candidate 3 now and become a part of the Digital Asset Management Revolution!

The all new powerful search in the upcoming Razuna 1.4.6

As already mentioned in our last post, we have been hard at work to bring a new powerful search to Razuna. Today, we want to give you a short insight what you can expect soon (Razuna 1.4.6 is currently in testing and should be released within a weeks time).

Search for any metadata

The new search alghorithm stores each metadata field in dedicated rows. In other words, each value is searchable on its own. We have gone a long way and enhanced our Advanced search form to include most common metadata fields. Still there might be cases, where you want to search on some special metadata fields that we have not exposed in the search form. Fear not, the all new powerful omnisearch lets you search for those fields as well.

Let us show you how you will be able to search for the metadata field called “SCENE_TYPE” (This is a metadata field that most camera models fill with values). In our case, the value stored with each image is “Directly photographed image”.

Within Razuna you can now simply enter “scene_type:directly” and Razuna will return the images containing the value in the “scene_type” metadata field, as shown below:

Now, that is what we call “powerful omnisearch”. You are not bound to any form, customization or to the whim of us including your metadata fields. You can simply enter any metadata field separated with a “:” and your search term.

Search for custom fields explicitly

We have always supported the option to search within your custom field values, but we simply indexed them and there was no easy way to search within custom fields values only.

With Razuna 1.4.6 we have changed that completely. We index each custom field separately and also included the option to search for each custom field explicitly.

Advanced search and sidepanel

As you can see from the above screen shot, the searchresults page show the sidepanel by default now. This helps you to narrow down your search even more, with the very handy “search within search results” option or trigger a new search.

Furthermore, our Advanced Search form got a lot of love. You will be able to search each field on its own and for those documents who include extensive metadata fields (like images and PDF files) we included them in the advanced search as well.

Moreover, we included an “AND / OR” selector for, well, advanced searches.

As mentioned, the new search will be available in the upcoming Razuna 1.4.6 along with many more features.

How to get Razuna

Razuna is available over at http://razuna.org. You have the option to use our preconfigured Razuna Virtual Server, download the dedicated Razuna Standalone Server or deploy to your own J2EE-Server with our Razuna WAR/EAR distribution.

Razuna is also available as a Hosted Solution over at http://razuna.com. For teams and organizations we also offer a dedicated Razuna Server offering.

New search options are coming for Razuna 1.4.6

Just a short note, but we are working on brand new search options for the upcoming Razuna 1.4.6 – open source digital asset management - release. Sure, we could hold it off for a major new release number, but thought we rather bring you these new options rather sooner then later.

The new search options will contain:

  • Custom advanced search option
  • Search for single metadata fields
  • Update to the latest search components
  • more goodies that will be revealed in a future post
The new search options will be made available the next release candidate of 1.4.6 and of course in the final Razuna 1.4.6.
