Use of a framework, a methodology or both or none at all

Now there is really a “war” going on among developers about using a framework or not. The recent proof of this is this entry in this blog. It is a side by side interview with Simon Horwith and Hal Helms. Kind of reminds me on the OS war between MacOS and Windows :-)

My own opinion lends toward of the gentleman’s interview on the right side in the above blog. We have used Frameworks for some small projects and I have to admit that I am no fan of it. For us, it makes more sense to use a common coding practice (methodology) then force upon anybody to use a framework. All of our applications are build with a common methodology and developers who have worked with them understood it within days.

But go on and decide for yourself. Use what works for you and not what some hype dictates.
