Larry Ellison on Open Source and maybe buying Novell

I just read an interview with Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle. It is quite interessting how he talks about Open Source and Open Source companies in general. He even mentions that it might be possible for Oracle to buy Novell and sell it’s own OS. Well, the battle against Microsoft continues….

Oracle Error and how to fix it (ORA-01033)

Recently while I was starting up my local copy of the Oracle database trough the service panel (Windows XP) I saw that I got some error message. Well, I thought that this was not an issue. Sure enough I got hit by a ugly error message when connecting to my web application that Oracle was not up and running. So, after some time trying to figure out I found the solution.
